TALISMAN: DIGITAL 5th EDITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Hey Talisman fans!
Today, we’re proud to officially announce that we’re developing a brand new version of Talisman: Digital Edition, based on the upcoming 5th Edition of the physical board game from Avalon Hill, licensed by Games Workshop. We’re planning on releasing Talisman: Digital 5th Edition onto Steam later this year, with other platforms to follow. You can wishlist it now!

To celebrate this announcement of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, we’ve also made the current version of Talisman: Digital Edition free on Steam, GOG and mobile. We’re also going to be renaming it to Talisman: Digital Classic Edition, to help distinguish the two versions. If you’ve somehow missed what Talisman is, it was a board game originally released in 1983 by Games Workshop. Players embark on an epic quest through a land full of dangerous enemies and treacherous challenges, and in the 40 years since the 1st Edition was released, it’s gone on to become an iconic tabletop staple for millions of players. The latest version of the board game is the upcoming 5th Edition, which according to publisher Avalon Hill, “maintains what die-hard fans know and love about the Magical Quest Game but features stunning artwork, redesigned figures, and more streamlined and accessible gameplay.”
When the 5th Edition of Talisman was originally announced back in February of 2024, we were (understandably) swamped by people asking if we’d be making a new version of Talisman: Digital Edition to match, and we’re very happy to finally confirm that we are. This isn’t going to be a simple case of swapping out artwork and updating some rules though, as we’re going to be bringing a wide range of overhauls and new features to the game, alongside adapting all the gameplay changes and updates brought with the physical 5th Edition.
We’ve been working closely with Games Workshop over the past year to ensure that not only is Talisman: Digital 5th Edition the definitive digital Talisman experience, but that we adapt this new chapter of Talisman history as faithfully as we possibly can.

Today, game developer Nomad Games officially announced that they are developing a brand new version of Talisman: Digital Edition, based on the upcoming 5th Edition of the physical board game from Avalon Hill, licensed by Games Workshop. Alongside this announcement, the studio has made the current version of Talisman: Digital Edition available for free permanently on both PC and mobile devices.
Originally released in 1983 by Games Workshop, Talisman is a fantasy board game where players embark on an epic quest through a land full of dangerous enemies and treacherous challenges. The latest version of the board game is the upcoming 5th Edition, which according to publisher Avalon Hill, “maintains what die-hard fans know and love about the Magical Quest Game but features stunning artwork, redesigned figures, and more streamlined and accessible gameplay.”
Talisman: Digital 5th Edition is the upcoming digital adaptation of this 5th Edition of Talisman, and is being developed by Nomad Games in collaboration with Games Workshop. Building upon the previous work done by Nomad Games, Talisman: Digital 5th Edition will bring a wide range of overhauls and new features to the game, alongside adapting all the new gameplay changes and design updates featured in 5th Edition.

To celebrate the announcement of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, Nomad Games today also have made the current version of Talisman: Digital Edition free on PC and mobile devices. To reflect the differences between the two versions, it has been renamed to Talisman: Digital Classic Edition.
“The current version of Talisman: Digital Edition has been around and faithfully supported for more than 10 years now, and has introduced millions of players to this iconic board game at this point.” said Thomas Young. “By making the base game free-to-play, we hope it introduces the game to a whole new audience again!”

Talisman: Classic Edition can now be downloaded for free from Steam, GOG, the Google Play Store and the App Store.
