INTRODUCING OUR NEW STARTERS
Hello everyone!
We recently hired three new starters here at Nomad Games, which is the largest influx of new staff we’ve had in such a short period ever! While much larger game studios have quite a high turnover of staff, for us here at Nomad we only had 15 staff members before these additions. That’s a 20% increase in staff all at once!
With a ton of new, exciting projects on the horizon, we’ve brought on board this awesome new talent to help us achieve our lofty goals for this year and beyond. We even got together in Manchester to meet all three of them, because with everyone working from home it’s hard to put a face to a name.
So without further ado, let’s introduce you to them!
James
James joins us after studying Cyber Security at University, and between finishing university and joining us here at Nomad, he has released two games: A Cats Climb Home and Retro Runner. He’s spent many years and hours working on his own game projects (including working on making his own game engine!) and is excited to work on making games as part of our team.
In his spare time he plays lots of different competitive games, with his main love/hate relationship being with the cruel beast that is League of Legends. His two favourite board games are The Omega Virus and Ticket to Ride!
Matthew
Matthew is currently working on finishing up his dissertation in Pathfinding Algorithms, alongside getting started working here at Nomad! A tabletop gamer at heart, Matthew has spent far too much money on Warhammer, and has now moved over to playing Yu-Gi-Oh, so he can spend far too much money on cardboard instead.
His favourite video games are sprawling traditional RPG games like Baldur’s Gate and Divinity: Original Sin that you can sink into - he appreciates the combination of a deep, engrossing story and equally engrossing mechanics! He’s excited to get stuck into work here at Nomad, and we’re just as excited to have him on board.
Ryan
Ryan joins the Nomad Games team at the same time as starting his Masters Dissertation, as part of his course in Computer Game Engineering at Newcastle University. Originally from New Zealand, he moved over to the UK last year and is excited to be part of the Nomad team - being a game developer has been a long-term goal, and he’s happy to be achieving that!
Having previously been a pro-gamer in the Heroes of the Storm competitive scene, now he mainly enjoys rhythm games like Beat Saber and A Dance of Fire and Ice. He especially appreciates the sense of constant improvements that these types of titles bring. In his spare time, he also competes (and constantly improves) at archery for Newcastle Uni - the best team in the entire league!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know our new team members! Remember, if you want to keep up to date with all the latest happenings here at Nomad Games, you can follow us on a whole host of different social media channels.
Also, if you have any questions for the Nomad Games team, every month we run a ‘Monthly Mailbag’ where we answer your questions! Just send yours into questions@nomadgames.co.uk and you could win some Steam keys if we think your question is especially cool!
