NOMAD MONTHLY ROUND-UP - FEBRUARY 2023 EDITION

Hello everyone!

We’re in March, and the biggest month in Nomad Games history has just finished. February was massive for us as a games studio, as we finally released CATAN® - Console Edition on February 28th! So far, the reception has been great, and we massively appreciate all the support that you’ve given us not only last month, but in all the months leading up to launch. We’ve had a ton of feedback from players on what they’d like to see improved, what they’re hoping for and bug reports for us to jump on.

We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s get into it!

Obviously the headline event for us last month, on February 28th the full release of CATAN - Console Edition finally came around!

If players pre-ordered the game, they could get their hands on it a week earlier, and the feedback we’ve had during both that early access period and launch has been great to see! Lots of players have expressed how happy they are with the adaptation, and we’ve also had a lot of constructive feedback on what players would like to see us improve.

During February, the game also got some featuring from our friends over at Xbox, Dovetail released an exclusive first look at gameplay over on the CATAN - Console Edition Youtube channel, and a trophy guide is already out for achievement hunters! The official discord has also been a great hub of discussion on the game, and we’ve been taking close note of all the feedback that the more dedicated players have been giving us. We’re currently in the process of working on some exciting future patches based on their feedback, so watch this space!

Inside the studio, it’s all been a bit surreal - after spending so long working on the game, seeing it out in the wild and people playing it is weird! We’re all very happy with the work we’ve done though, and we’re going to be arranging a get-together to properly celebrate the launch.

As of writing this, we’ve rolled out the first patch for the game (which you can read here) which addresses a number of feedback points we’d been getting already. We’re aware that there are still some things people have requested fixes for that aren’t included in this patch, but we’re already working hard on getting the next one delivered straight down your internet tubes and into your Xbox/PlayStation.

The release of CATAN - Console Edition also meant that we hit a new milestone as a games studio! We’ve now officially released 10 different games since Nomad Games was originally founded over 11 years ago. That works out at a game release roughly every 11 months - which for a studio of our size, is pretty good going!

From our first release of Talisman: Prologue all the way up to CATAN - Console Edition, we’ve managed to stay true to our original vision for the studio - bringing together the world of tabletop gaming and video games. The road hasn’t been easy, but we’re very proud of each and every title we’ve released as a studio.

We can’t wait for you all to see what our next 10 games look like!

Alongside releasing CATAN - Console Edition, we’ve had quite a lot of movement within the Nomad Games studio that we can’t quite talk about just yet!

Don’t tell anyone, but we’ve got more secret work going on.

From pitching new cool ideas to publishers, making design documents for even more cool things we want to work on in the near and far future, there’s a lot going on. As usual, we can’t speak about these things for a number of reasons - we’re not 100% sure what’ll happen and what won’t, so we don’t want to get any hopes up.

We’ve also had some interviews in February for different roles here at Nomad. As we continue to ramp up the number of things we do as a studio, we need more awesome people to make sure that all happens! If you want to find out more about joining us (once you do, we’ll also be able to tell you all about these secret projects…), then head on over to our careers page.

Now that CATAN is officially released, the developer streams can officially begin! We’re planning on streaming CATAN twice in March, with a bit of Talisman: Digital Edition snuck in for good measure. We stream each Thursday at 1pm GMT over on our Twitch Channel, so the best way to find out when we’re live is to
