NOMAD MONTHLY ROUND-UP - MARCH 2024 EDITION
Hello everyone!
March was a good month for us here at Nomad Games, with more details of Board Game Cafe being revealed, solid development progress happening on other titles in our library and updates being worked on. We also rolled out a much-requested beta update for Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition , which got a incredibly positive reception from the community.
As always, we’re going to take you through each exciting thing that happened to our small studio over the past month, so read on to find out more!
In March, we dropped the first gameplay trailer for Board Game Cafe, showing off some of the different mechanics and features that we’ve implemented so far. Give it a watch!
Right now, we feel like we’ve built up a pretty solid base for the gameplay in Board Game Cafe, and as we get closer to launching into Early Access, we’re going to be showing off more and more gameplay and features. So expect more videos, deep-dives and looks behind-the-scenes as development progresses.
We’ve also nearly hit 100 different board games being requested via our Board Game Cafe Game Request Form, so if you haven’t put your favourites in yet, make sure we know what you want to see by submitting yours now!
Oh, and make sure you wishlist the game if you think it looks cool! It helps out small developers like us an absolute ton.
And if you want to help us out even more, make sure you follow us everywhere to keep up to date with news and announcements, and tell all your board game obsessed friends!
At the end of March, we announced that we’d be streaming Board Game Cafe on a weekly basis (every Wednesday) to offer you an look at the game before it launches. In fact, we’ve already done a stream! You can check it out below:

March has been a very busy month for CATAN - Console Edition development, but almost all of that development has been happening behind the scenes!
Mainly, we’ve been working on bug fixes and updates for community reported issues that we’re aware of. We’re very much aware that it’s taken longer than usual for us to roll out a patch that fixes issues that the community have reported, but we’ve been having unexpected issues crop-up that have caused a number of delays.
The team both here at Nomad and Dovetail Games are working tirelessly to get this update to you as soon as we can, and massively appreciate the patience everyone has shown while we do so.
In our last monthly round-up, we mentioned that we’d been putting efforts into an update for Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition. Well, at the end of March, we opened up the Immortal Update Beta for all Fury of Dracula players, allowing them to try out the new patch ahead of the full release!
You can find the full patch notes over on Steam.
So far the reception to the beta has been quite overwhelming, with some choice quotes including:
A FOD PATCH?
It’s a Christmas Miracle!
The game has changed!
A massive thank you to all of you at Nomad for putting this together!
so excited!!!
ITS EVERYTHING WE COULD POSSIBLY WANT
So thanks to everyone who’s tried it out so far!
There were a ton of different sales and events that happened in March that we took part in, from the Steam Spring Sale and Deckbuilder Fests to the latest Digital Tabletop Fest from our good friends over at Auroch Digital. As part of Digital Tabletop Fest 4, our very own Thomas Young also took part in a special panel, discussing horror board games, translating them into digital games and more. Check it out!
As we expected, we got a ton of questions this month all about one particular topic, so we’ve rolled a lot of them into a single answer! ‘Monthly Mailbag Questions’ channel to our Discord, which you can find here!

What's the team favorite Talisman expansion?
We asked this to the team, and here are their responses:
Ethan: Mine would be The Cataclysm. It has a cool name.
Carl: My favourite Talisman expansion is Sacred Pool.
Jethro: Sacred Pool is a good shout, Reaper might just win though for me... it's one of those that feels almost essential once you've played with it.
Carl: Yes, Reaper does balance the adventure deck a lot. I like sacred pool because it added alternate endings, warlock quests and more stuff for neutral characters.
Jethro: Yeah, Sacred Pool brings some balance for alignment based cards which the base deck lacks.

Why is variable set up [in CATAN - Console Edition] still not fixed? It’s been a month and the game is dependent on it.
We’ve already had a bit of a chat directly about this on Twitter (hi!), but we wanted to take the time to explain it here too.
When we originally rolled out the Cities & Knights update for CATAN - Console Edition, there was a bug we missed during testing that meant that the variable setup option didn’t work as intended. While we’ve been able to fix this issue in our development build, this fix is part of a bigger patch and update to the game.
In order to make sure that players can use cross-platform multiplayer in CATAN - Console Edition, all platforms need to be on the same version of the game. So if we submit the same build for Sony, PlayStation and Nintendo, and there is then a issue specific to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, we need to firstly fix the issue, and then resubmit a build for each platform. This isn’t usually an issue, but due to technical issues we’ve had more setbacks than usual in this build submission process.
So while we can (as always) appreciate your frustration that isn’t taking this long to deploy a fix, please know that we’re just as frustrated as you are that we can’t get it out to you by now!

Any plans regarding Talisman 5th edition?
Wouldn’t you like to know.
For real though, if we were working on anything related to the 5th Edition of Talisman, we wouldn’t be able to tell you. If we weren’t working on anything related to the 5th Edition of Talisman, we wouldn’t be able to tell you either.
So all we can say is… we can’t tell you anything.

I’d love to see a Marvel version of Talisman. I even made my own. Have you guys ever considered it as an option or are there other IPs you would target first?
First of, it’s important to note that we’re not allowed to just throw IP into Talisman, so we’d need to make sure anything that we’d make gets both the approval of Games Workshop and the related IP holder first - for a company of our size, getting that kind of thing approved has always been a big task whenever we’ve tried! But if we were to choose an IP it would be either Lord of the Rings or Transformers - we think they’d both be a great fit.
And that’s the end of this months update! Don’t forget, if you’ve got questions you want to ask the Nomad team, you can always send your questions to questions@nomadgames.co.uk, or fill in the form below! We answer each and every question that comes in, so don’t worry if you want to ask us something weird. In fact, we’d encourage it!
