Talisman: Digital 5th Edition - Available Now for Xbox and PlayStation

The wait is finally over, because you can now download and play Talisman: Digital 5th Edition on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4!

If you’ve been waiting for your chance to experience the most customisable digital Talisman experience ever on the big screen, now you can! Whether you want to grab some controllers and turn your friends into toads or form all-new Alliances, this is the definitive Talisman experience for you.

We’ve also added an extra discount for PlayStation players who already own Talisman: Digital Edition, as thanks for waiting a bit longer than Xbox players have!

Not only is the base game now available, but all of the DLC content we’ve released so far is also available for purchase too, including the all-new Alliances: Fate Beckons expansion.

What is Talisman: Digital 5th Edition?

In Talisman, players take on the role of bold and brave adventurers, tasked with reaching the Crown of Command in order to win the game. Along the way they’ll face deadly enemies, meet mysterious strangers and experience a fantasy adventure unlike anything else. Back in 1983, Games Workshop first released the Talisman board game, and it went on to be a smash hit, with numerous editions being released over the years, with the latest edition being the 5th Edition - which this digital version is an adaptation of.

In Talisman: Digital 5th Edition, our team here at Nomad Games have taken everything we’ve learned over the last 11 years of working on Talisman: Digital Classic Edition (which has sold over 1 million copies, by the way!) and applied it to this new game. Some of the exciting new features exclusive to Digital 5th Edition include:

Do these versions of Talisman support cross-play?

We know many of you have asked about cross-play and cross-save functionality with the PC version. For the launch of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition on console, we wanted to clarify exactly how your journey begins.

To ensure the most stable and optimized experience for our console players at launch, cross-play and cross-save with the PC versions of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition will not be available. When you step onto the board on Xbox or PlayStation, you will be entering a fresh realm dedicated specifically to console adventurers.

Is there cross-play between Xbox and PlayStation players? No, online multiplayer is restricted to your specific console family.

  • PlayStation: PS4 and PS5 players can play together.

  • Xbox: Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players can play together.

  • Xbox players cannot play with PlayStation players at this time.

Does Talisman: Digital 5th Edition support local multiplayer (Couch Co-op)?

Yes! The game supports local "hot-seat" multiplayer. You can play with up to 6 players on a single console using one controller (passing it around) or multiple controllers.

Can I sync across my previous Talisman purchases?

We’re pleased to confirm that we have enabled full purchase syncing within your console family!

  • PlayStation: If you previously purchased Talisman: Digital Edition on PlayStation 4 or 5, any expansions and characters you already own in that game will automatically give you access to the remastered versions of that content in Talisman: Digital 5th Edition.

  • Xbox: If you previously purchased any expansions or characters for Talisman: Digital Classic Edition on any Xbox platform, you will automatically be granted access to the remastered versions of that content in Talisman: Digital 5th Edition.

These console versions of Talisman: Digital 5th Edition operate as their own separate ecosystem to ensure stability, so PC purchases from Steam or GOG don't transfer over. We'd love to have you join us on the couch, but we respect that your main collection lives on PC!

What expansions/content are available already?

We’re launching on both Xbox and PlayStation with all of the content currently available on PC, which means that you can play the following expansions and content as part of your Talisman: Digital 5th Edition experience:

  • The all-new co-op Alliances: Fate Beckons expansion, exclusive to 5th Edition.

  • Both The Frostmarch Classic and The Reaper Classic expansions, two remastered 4th Edition expansions from the previous digital version of Talisman. (Unlocked at no additional cost if you own the original expansions, by the way!)

  • Three remastered characters with The Jester, The Ranger and The Swordsman. If you already own these characters in Talisman: Digital Edition, unlock them in Digital 5th Edition at no additional cost too!

  • Two digital-exclusive characters, The Druid and The Minstrel who were originally part of the 4th Edition character roster, return to 5th Edition only through Talisman: Digital 5th Edition.

If I buy the game on PS4 do I get the PS5 version? What about Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S?

Yes!

  • On PlayStation: The game supports Cross-Buy. Purchasing it once gives you access to both the PS4 and PS5 versions.

  • On Xbox: The game supports Smart Delivery. You can buy it once and play the best version available for your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

Do I need an internet connection to play? 

No. You can play the full game in Single Player (vs AI) or Local Multiplayer offline. An internet connection is only required for Online Multiplayer.

Is there a discount for owning Talisman: Digital Edition already on console?

On PlayStation, we’ve added a permanent discount for people who own Talisman: Digital Edition either digitally or physically. For Xbox, the base game of Talisman: Digital Edition is free-to-play, so while we can’t offer a discount for base game owners, we’re still offering the same “carry over your DLC” system as other platforms. So, if you own The Frostmarch on Xbox, you’ll be able to use The Frostmarch Classic remastered expansion in 5th Edition at no additional cost.

We’ve also set the base price for Talisman: Digital 5th Edition on Xbox taking the lack of a loyalty discount into account, to make it fair to all players.

Do I need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core to play online?

Yes. As with most premium console games, you will need an active subscription to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) to access online multiplayer modes. Local play does not require a subscription.
